What is Pilates?

The Pilates Method is a system of over 500 exercises that was developed by Joseph Pilates nearly a century ago.  All of the exercises are performed on a simple mat or on specially designed equipment and are done with a focus on the “core" - which includes the muscles of the abdominals, back, pelvis, hips, and shoulders.  Joseph Pilates believed that when the core is functioning fully, the rest of the body will be able to move with ease and grace, free from stress or strain on the muscles and joints.

Pilates builds strength from the inside out, returning balance to the body and bringing it into correct spinal and pelvic alignment. It will reshape your body - making you more toned, leaner, and longer. Pilates will also improve your posture, achieving a perfect balance between strength and flexibility.  It is also a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension as well as areas of chronic pain or discomfort.

This method of exercise works for everyone, regardless of age or condition.

Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs.  It teaches body awareness, mental focus and concentration, and encourages proper alignment and easy, graceful movement.

Policies

Pre-registration and pre-payment

Pre-registration and pre-payment are required for all services.

We ask that you reserve your spot for the class online in advance (by 12:00 noon on the day of the evening classes and by 5:00pm the night before the morning classes) so that we know how many people to expect. We reserve the right to cancel any class due to low registration, in the event of a cancellation you will be notified via e-mail.

Cancellation policy

Your time is valuable, as is ours! We require 24-hour cancellation notice for private and semi-private training. For cancellations without notice or with less than 24 hours notice, a full session fee is charged. This policy applies to all services.

Drop-Ins

If you have a friend that wants to join you, please bring them. Also for you we know schedules can be hectic, if you find yourself thinking "I should go to Pilates tonight" PLEASE COME!! We can settle up after class.

Expiration Policy

*Drop in Mat classes expires 1 month after purchase

*All mat class package sessions expire 3 months after purchase

*All private and semi-private sessions expire 6 months after purchase

Refund policy

All purchases are final and non-refundable.

Inclement Weather

We follow the Fairfax County School Boards decision. An e-mail will be sent to you if an evening class is cancelled.
